Since news doesn’t stop for the holiday season, MonticelloLive will be covering any local news that developes during the holiday season. No meetings are planned, but you never know when something “newsworthy” will take place.
Keep checking MLive to know what’s going on in Drew County; we’ll watch the news; so you can watch football and the family.
MLive took this photo of 5 southeast Arkansas County Judges, at a library meeting, earlier this year.
Shown here areLincoln County Judge Charles Capps, Drew County Judge Damon Lampkin, Desha County Judge Mark McElroy, Bradley County Judge Keith Neely and Chicot County Judge Mack Ball.
Capps, Lampkin, and Emory Austin (of Ashley Co.) are retiring. McElroy and Mike Holcomb (of Jefferson Co.) were elected to serve in the legislature. Neely and Ball were re-elected as Judges.
10th Jjudicial District Circuit Judge Kenny Johnson has been appointed to the Arkansas Supreme Court’s child support committee for a four-year term.
The committee issues recommendations to the court regarding child support issues in the state.
The Drew Central School Board held a special meeting Friday, to hire an attorney to represent them in a complaint filed with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission by a former employee.
The employee, who was released last year as part of the district’s fiscal distress process, charges the district dismissed him because of his race, age and as a form of retaliation.
While everyone else was celebrating Christmas day, our local First Responders were at work, serving the community, like they do every other day of the year.

MPD dispatched a Drew County Sheriff’s Deputy to a truck accident, Christmas Day. No one was reportedly injured.
