Judicial Charges Dropped Against Harper, when He Agrees to Not Serve as Judge in the Future

October 26th, 2012 by

The Arkansas Judicial Discipline and Disability Commission has dropped it’s pending charges against former Drew County District Judge Ken Harper, after Harper, who recently resigned as District Judge, also resigned from his upcoming term, and promised never to serve in the Arkansas judiciary in the future.

Harper submitted letters to Gov. Mike Beebe and the JDDC, today, bringing this case to a close

Harper’s letter acknowledged the following stipulations;

I was elected in May to serve as District Court Judge in Drew County. I resigned my current term on September 19, 2012, without mentioning my new upcoming term.

I will submit a letter to the Governor on or before October 25 informing him of my decision to resign my new term and not take office on January 1, 2013.

I agree that I am no longer eligible to serve as a judge. Pursuant to ACA 16-10-410d, I acknowledge that I will never serve in the judiciary in the State of Arkansas in any capacity.

My understanding is that the case listed above will be dismissed and a dismissal letter will be made public upon my resignation. There will be no need for a trial in this case.

Following Harper’s earlier resignation, fill-in judges have filled the local bench, with officers making trips to McGehee and Warren, for first appearance hearings, when needed.

Gov. Beebe is expected to appoint an interim District Judge to fill Harper’s unexpired terms.

    With all due respect. In all of our lives we encounter trials, temptations, and various moral difficult soul searching moments. These times are more precious than gold. What is done in darkness will come to light. That is judgment but just judgment. Desperation is perceved as a moment of torment and heavy burdens, only if you view with worldly judgment. When the truth evolves to an outermanifestation in the form of a decision. these things prove it’s all within. We fight against principalities. Everyones mistakes become the gossip these days. When while the gossip never stops till time drops our pride fills there heart and they fall. Then hey we get blasted for our short comings instead of home comings for war veterens, more important to get musical equipment and lights vs putting gas in busess and spreading the truth, they say truth is to the individual. the wise man said we will see. the bible says there’s a way seem right to a man but what….study be wise in these last times. God Bless desperation a gift give all the things that holds us in bondage up freedom in it
