Bishop Sam Wherry:
It is a proven fact in one the worst economic recovery times in modern history in the United States and in particular Rural America, Monticello, Arkansas shines as the entity that utilize every available resource without political reservation but for the betterment of Monticello and the region it serves. The truth of the matter is Drew Memorial Hospital under the leadership of it’s stellar Chief Executive Officer and most efficient Board of Directors and a determined and farsighted County Judge and Quorum Court, Governor Beebe had no alternative but to recognize this Outstanding Medical Facility and Staff for the third time. Many are critical of the Stimulus Funds of the American Recovery Act but if you take a hard, hard realistic look and see the the most outstanding and efficient developments over the past three years in Monticello, Arkansas from the Ridgeway Senior Apartment Complex, UAM Forestry etc. project developments, Drew Memorial Hospital, Intermodal and Railroad upgrade, Multifamily Housing, Allen Maxwell’s massive infrastructure development enhancements and the continuance improvements to the existing and new highway projects completed and under construction(I-69 bypass). We first give thanks to our outstanding and most efficient total leadership team in Monticello and Drew County and second we thank our most efficient and professional staff at USDA/RDA and most of we thank God for the humane interest of these leaders of putting the interest of the people first instead of political backlash initiatives. This flagship initiative will make this city and the region it service one of the outstanding regions to live, work and be educated in for years to come, again Congratulations Drew Memorial Hospital for receiving your third Third Governors recognition Award.
