Drew Central 4th Graders Participate In 2015 One Hour Of Code Event

e2zn0gk7 copyDrew Central fourth graders participated in the 2015 One Hour of Code which is a one-hour activity designed for students of all ages.  

The largest learning event in history kicks off during Computer Science Education Week, December 7-13.  The goal was to have a global movement with millions of students from around the world learning about coding at the same time. Students can choose from a variety of self-guided tutorials, for kindergarten and up.  Once students see what they create right before their eyes, they’re empowered to keep going.  Why computer science?  Every 21st-century student should have the opportunity to take part in creating technology that’s changing the world.  The basics help nurture creativity and problem-solving skills, and prepare students for any future career.  By exposing both girls and boys to fundamental computing concepts on a level playing field, we can inspire today’s generation of students to build technology. MIS 4th Graders Send Christmas Cards To Veteran’s Hospital

Nov 2015DAR member, Sandy Funderburg with Ashley Weast, Fourth Grade Literacy teacher and some of Mrs. Weast’s students.  Fourth graders in Mrs. Weast’s,  Ms. Mary Bush, Ms Amy Rosegrant and Ms. Shayla Pace’s rooms (Literacy classes)  wrote Christmas Cards to Veterans who are patients in the Veteran’s Hospital in Little Rock.  The cards will be placed on the Veteran’s meal trays in December. 

This was in response to a request from DAR and were mailed to Little Rock by DAR.

Although Arkansas’s population ranks 32nd nationally, we have the 12th largest highway system in America. Arkansas’s public roadways are made up of nearly 100,000 miles of state highways, county roads, city streets and the bridges that connect them.
Ensuring that our highways meet the ever growing needs of Arkansans is an evolving challenge. Therefore, in order to consider the latest highway funding challenges, the governor created a Working Group on Highway Funding by an Executive Order in April of this year. The group has been meeting monthly since August (4 times?) to develop strategies to increase highway funding in the state. The group is composed of members of the Arkansas House and Senate transportation committees, designees from state agencies and commissions, and individuals with knowledge of the transportation and finance industries.
