The Revival Center Church convenes annually to reflect on its prior year ministry initiatives as well as prayerfully revisit its mission. In December 2009, the church felt impressed that God was calling the ministry to concentrate its focus more on local and foreign missions.
As a result, the church mission statement was revisited and modified to read: The mission of Revival Center Church is to develop and inspire Spirit-led believers to win the world for Christ.
One of the mission strategies included sending a local church missionary to Haiti in support of a church building initiative financially supported by Revival Center and a sister church in Pine Bluff, 1st Trinity COGIC.
Only God knew two weeks prior to the missionaries’ departure Haiti would suffer such a devastating catastrophe. The earthquake and numerous aftershocks have shaken the very foundation of a nation that is already considered the poorest nation of the western hemisphere. Read the rest of this entry »

New Year’s Eve brought with it the usual activities, Thursday night, however the rain and cool temperatures seem to reduce the number of people celebrating.
Monticello Police arrested 3 drivers that were charged with DWI, proving the phrase, “if you drive hammered, you’ll probably get nailed” to be true.
Several churches held New Year’s events as well. The top photo is from Mt. Pleasant Campground United Methodist Church held a ”sing in the new year” recognizing the music of Gospel Music Publisher, Songwriter, Music and Singing School Teacher, Singer and Musician Marty Phillips, and his wive Ann. According to Drew County Sheriff Mark Gober, several churches and Pastors in and around Drew County have been contacted by individuals asking for money to help with repairs to their vehicle.
Most of the calls are alleging that they were in route to Monticello or Drew County and their vehicle had broken down and needed money wired to their location, many of which have been out of state.
We have contacted the alleged repair shops and found no vehicles linked to the person requesting monies.
If contacted by any person soliciting money, those organizations and individuals should contact their local law enforcement agencies. These are obvious scams to target churches.
Fifty days ago I left my small town life for a journey through 11 countries. I was happy at home and was surrounded by a wonderful family, great friends, awesome church family, and was living life to the fullest. I did not know why I was leaving all of this behind and I did not have a clue what I was even getting myself into. I love adventure but to leave home for a year was just not something I ever saw myself doing. I stepped out in faith because I really believed this is what God wanted in my life. I am on The World Race and you can find out more information about this at www.theworldrace.org. You can follow me this year at www.ashleehilliskelley.theworldrace.org. I will be out on the field till July of 2010. I have raised 80% of my funds and if you would like to support me go to my blog and click on the support me link. I appreciate all of your love, support, and prayers while im gone.
