Repair crews are seen working Saturday on the damaged underground phone, cable TV, and natural gas supply lines
Saturday morning, around 11 o’clock, normal activities of cooking lunch, while watching TV, and talking on the telephone to friends came to a quick stop for many Monticello residents.

February 25th, 2009 byJames Daniels, age 23 of Monticello, drove to the Monticello Police Dept, with the intention of filing a police report. Upon arrival, Daniels was arrested and charged with DWI, after failing a field sobriety test.
He also admitted to the officer, during the test, that he had recently “smoked a blunt”.
Daniels’ vehicle was towed, and he was transported to the Drew County Detention Facility.

In Memory of Sgt. Larry Smith
January 11th, 2009 byAfter many fund raisers, enough money was raised to purchase the monument for Sgt Larry D. Smith of the Monticello Police Department.
His monument was set on December 23, 2008 which was Larry’s 51st Birthday.
There is no way his Police Department family could ever express our appreciation to everyone that helped from purchasing a ticket to making a donation and or physically helping during each fund raiser that we had, therefore those of you that did help please know we appreciate each and everyone of you. Larry very much deserved this beautiful monument.
We also would like to give a special thank you to Lyle & Kim Welch & all employees of Southeast Emergency Ambulance Service for everything you did to help make this possible. Larry is and forever will be missed but will Never be forgotten.

Devin Horn Wins Variety Category at State Fair

Drew Central’s Devin Horn, winner of the Drew County Fair’s Talent Show in the Variety Category, won the Arkansas State Fair’s District Competition earlier this week, and returned with the other district winners for Saturday night’s competition, where he was selected as the best in the statewide variety category.
