Small Business Development Center To Offer 3 Seminars In February

ASBTDC-logo-200x76Advice from local businessmen, instruction in how to become a notary public, and information on how to start a business in Arkansas are the subjects of three seminars to be presented in February by the Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center (ASBTDC) at the University of Arkansas at Monticello.

On February 11, the center will present “Startup Small Talks” featuring Joe Fakouri, vice president of Commercial Bank and Trust, and State Farm Insurance Agent Mark Gray. The session will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. in the House Room of the John F. Gibson University Center. Fakouri and Gray will discuss finance, business structures, and small business insurance.

Monticello School Bus Drivers Needed

School bus driver MonticelloSchool Districts all across the state are in desperate need of school bus drivers. This is also the case for the Monticello School District.
Having enough route drivers, substitute drivers and trip drivers has become critical. We have fulltime, substitute, and trip driver positions available.
We have qualified personnel that will provide training to aid applicants in obtaining a CDL license including training to drive the bus safely. For more information please contact Danny Lloyd, Director of Transportation @ 870-367-4005.

UAM Receives Approval For First Completely Online Baccalaureate Degree

The University of Arkansas at Monticello has received approval for its first 100 percent online undergraduate degree program.

The UA Board of Trustees and the Higher Education Coordinating Board have approved a bachelor of science degree in education studies, which will be offered totally online. The non-licensure program may be taken by anyone but is designed for non-traditional students unable to return to school and for public school paraprofessionals.

Paraprofessionals will have a route to licensure following completion of the online degree through the UAM Teacher Residency Program, which includes two semesters teaching with a provisional license while under the supervision of a licensed instructor. Other graduates may pursue a teaching license in the master of arts in teaching (MAT) program. Read the rest of this entry »
