The Market is providing an outstanding outlet for the local farmers, both large and small, to show and sell their produce. The watermelons, cantaloupe, potatoes, okra, tomatoes, squash, cucumbers, green beans, purple hull peas, etc. have been great and will be being replaced as the season progresses with late season produce such as butter beans, sweet potatoes, apples, pears, figs, etc.

SEC Network coming to CCC Cable Customers August 14!

zzzzLocal cable TV, Internet and Digital Phone provider, Community Communications Company, announced they will carry the SEC Network when it goes on the air August 14th.

“We are pleased to be able to provide SEC sports to all of our Basic Cable subscribers in Monticello, Warren, Wilmar, Eudora, Rison, Star City and Rosedale MS for no additional charge this fall,” said TJ Scott, Director of Operations, “It was clear to us that in our industry that this was the most important channel launch in many years, and that we should be on board to serve our customers with what most of them would want.”

There will be a luncheon at Pauline Baptist Church on August 19, at 11:00 A.M. All Pastors and Ministers of the churches in our area are invited to come together as a community to hear Iverson Jackson, Pastor of Zoe Bible Church of Little Rock, speak on “Where does God stand on the Issues”.

MYSA 2The Monticello Youth Soccer Association known as MYSA will be holding early soccer registration for children ages 3-17 on Saturday, July 26th from 9am-3pm at the McCloy City Park at the small pavilion. MYSA is a co-ed sport. Children must be 3 and no older than 17 on or before August 1, 2014. Cost is only $45.00 for this day only. Games will start September 13th. Woody Bynum Returns Home with SEARK Concerts’ “Summertime Serenade”

“My husband and I knew something was amiss when our three-year old son started playing recognizable tunes on his toy piano,” said Judith Bynum in a recent conversation about her son Woodrow who will be returning to Monticello in July to present a concert at the Fine Arts Center at The University of Arkansas at Monticello under the auspices of SEARK Concerts. “A few weeks later, he came home from church and played the hymns we had sung that day. Before long, he was propped up on our old upright and began reproducing every song that came into his head.”
