At 6:40 Thursday morning, Monticello’s fire and rescue team were paged out to the report of this eastbound Toyota Corolla, after it left the roadway and flipped, trapping its occupants inside.


Recently, members of the Monticello Fire Department were practicing their skills of “rope rescue,” using the extended ladder of the ladder truck, along with several cantilever pulleys, assisted by a trainer on the fire academy.

Last Saturday, the Collins Cominto fire department held their annual barbecue/auction fundraiser at the firestation.

Monticello Christian Academy, a daycare through 12th grade private school located at 910 Old Warren Road in Monticello, AR, recently hosted its 10th annual Victory Ceremony. This is a time to celebrate the accomplishments that the students made through the year as well as honor the graduating seniors. The photo depicts some of MCA’s students with their awards.
Kelly Word, Director of Education, noted that it was “hard to believe we are already celebrating 10 years. It seems like yesterday when we started with just five students. We have and are certainly continuing to grow!”

Four juveniles and an adult were injured in a one vehicle accident on HWY 83 N., near the city limits, Friday morning around 11:25.
On Wednesday, a Drew Central High School teacher was arrested by authorities with the Drew County Sheriff’s Office and Arkansas State Police.
A Monticello man was released from jail, Thursday, after divers were unable to retrieve what was believed to be a stolen Ford SUV from the Saline River, due to water and rapid currents.

Several local law enforcement agencies’ search for a stolen SUV, reported out of Monticello, Wednesday afternoon, has led them to the Saline River Bridge on the Bradley/Drew County line.
Sunday afternoon at 4:25, the Monticello Fire Dept. was paged out to a trailer fire, on Piney Creek Lane, just off of HWY 278 East.
When the firefighters arrived, they were told that the man who lived there could possibly still be inside the burning extended camper trailer.
