SEARK Reading Council Hosted Zoom Meeting

SEARK Reading Council hosted their second zoom meeting of the year on January 25, 2021. SEARK sponsored a writing contest for grades first through twelfth grade. The winners of the Young Writers’ Competition were recognized and read their winning writing pieces to the audience. Students wrote a narrative titled “My Hero”. Parents, relatives and members were on hand to celebrate the students’ accomplishments. Local winners were submitted to a state writing contest sponsored by the Arkansas Literacy Association. DCSO Statement on Passing of AC Simpson

It is with great regret and sadness that we inform you of the passing of our friend and colleague Sgt. AC Simpson, Jr.
AC was full time with the Drew County Sheriff’s Department since August 2001; however, his career began as an auxiliary deputy in 1985.
The family of AC will be honoring his request; therefore, there will be no funeral service.
We will continue to lift AC’s entire family up in prayer.
He will truly be missed by his family, friends, this department and this community.
