Since the single-digit temperatures, early last week, the city of Wilmar has been battling a water shortage, along with a still-in-effect boil order.

We spoke with the city water office, and as of the middle of this week, they are hoping to have the 190,000 gallon city water tank back to its regular full status by Friday.

As we understand it, no large water leaks were found, but several smaller ones were located, usually on residential property.

Residents are still being asked to conserve water, where possible. An example would be not washing cars or other large used activities.

The “overnight outages“ were discontinued several nights ago.

Monday afternoon, Ashley County was placed under a tornado watch.

A tornado warning was issued later in the evening, followed by a tornado or straight wins (depending on which sources you trust) struck the city of Montrose and surrounding areas.

Up to 10 homes were destroyed; up to 30 other homes were affected in some way,

Sources report that Monttose does not have electricity or water.

Multiple agencies were on the scene, Monday evening, and Tuesday, including the County Judge, OEM, SDEM, Ashley, County Sheriffs & deputies, and Hamburg, Fire and Rescue.

No deaths occurred, and at this point, only one minor injury has been reported.

According to Monticello Police Chief Carlos Garcia, Tuesday morning, at approximately 4:28 am, The Monticello Police Department received a call reporting a disturbance at a residence on Hwy 278 East of town. (more…)

Monday evening, around 8 o’clock, on Highway 82 East, just west of Montrose, this box trailer 18 wheeler was blown over while traveling west, during the storm.

Crews are shown, earlier today, setting it back on the roadway.

At 9:51 PM, a severe thunderstorm was seen on radar 7 miles east of Monticello and also north of Monticello, in the cane creek area.

No funnel clouds have been reported, but the radar shows rotation into thunderstorm.
