16-year-olds may now Donate Blood at LifeShare Blood Centers
Wednesday, August 18th, 2010LifeShare Blood Centers announced that it would begin accepting 16-year-olds as potential blood donors. Sixteen-year-olds may become blood donors at LifeShare effective August 18, 2010. Previously, blood donors had to be at least 17 years old to be considered eligible for blood donation.
“It has been demonstrated that it is safe for 16-year-olds to donate blood,” said LifeShare spokesperson Gary Newton. “This is a group of young people who are eager to begin their adult responsibilities. What better way than by becoming a life-saving blood donor?” (more…)
