Landfill Closed for Flooding

The Drew County Landfill is closed until further notice due to multiple problems that were caused due to excessive rain which led to expansion.

At this time we are waiting on approval from ADEQ to re-open.

We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

Reason for Entergy Outage

Wednesday afternoon, 1626 Entergy customers lost electric power across a wide section of Monticello and the surrounding area.

Sources familiar with the situation indicate that mechanical failure, near/outside the South Main Street substation was the cause for the outage.

Power has since been restored to all affected customers.

The Jr. Auxiliary of Monticello made a donation to the local Imagination Library of $5000.

This means that the local chapter of the group can soon start shipping books in Monticello and Drew County.

The launch for Imagination Library is scheduled for TODAY, May 15 1-5 pm for parents to sign drew co kids up. Any child under 5 years of age that lives in Drew County is eligible.

The Launch Will be held in the main office lobby of the Monticello Medical Clinic.
