Local fire departments were busy Saturday, since the pleasant weather encouraged many people to do yardwork.
However windy conditions across the county caused 7 of these grass fires to grow out of control, with several of them reaching wooded areas.
Most of the fires were in the Monticello area, but others ranged from Collins to Lacey.
Bryant Childs, the driver of the asphalt truck involved in the October 29, 2012 death of Elizabeth Ann Davis at the Wilmar train crossing, was found guilty of negligent homicide and five counts of 2nd degree assault by a Drew County jury in November.
