Selma Fish House, Reopening this Weekend

imageThe Country Store Restaurant in Selma will be re-opening this weekend, starting this Friday and Saturday, 4:30 to 9:00 pm.

The fish-house received severe fire damage in late June, and has been completely renovated.

The Holland family, Billy, Darlene, and Steve invite you out for their reopening weekend. Friday and Saturday nights.

Arkansas Midland Railroad Bought by G&W

(G&W) has announced that it has signed an agreement with Pinsly Railroad Company of Westfield, Mass., to acquire certain rail service subsidiaries that constitute Pinsly’s Arkansas Division, including the local Arkansas Midland Railroad, that serves Monticello and Warren.

Bridge Club Winners

Winners at the Town and Gown Duplicate Bridge Club on Monday, December 1 were:
1st place Joann Hawley and Lowell Lynde
2nd place Gene Gulledge and Charles Dolberry
3rd place Luellen Jones and Marvin Fawley

The Club will host its annual Christmas potluck party and charity game on December 8 at 6:30. Entry fee will be $3 per person. Anyone interested in playing call Lowell Lynde at 367-7039. Newcomers are always welcome.

Tornado Siren Installation Underway

imageTornado sirens are currently being installed in the Monticello area, including the show areas near the library, hospital, and Old Troy Road water tower.image

imageA total of 18 sirens will be installed, most on their own self-standing towers.image

In response to many resident’s questions, The sirens will be tested weekly (silently), and audibly tested monthly or quarterly.
