Judge Robert Akin wants to thank everyone that donated money to purchase rosebushes to plant around the ear memorial at the courthouse.
“We have had 14 donated so far, and are hoping for an additional 10.”

The county courthouse is current undergoing “tuck point maintenance” and mortar repair, as is required on builing that age.
Also Judge Robert Akin was recently seen cleaning the front of the courthouse, in preparation for the Memorial Day service. (The photo was just too good to pass up.)

Drew Central fourth graders were Disney bound as part of a multi-digit multiplication project. This real-world scenario asked students to make choices and plan a seven day family trip to the most magical place on Earth, Disney World in Orlando, Florida!
A couple of weeks ago, I wrote an essay about my memories of the rolling store of my youth along the Mississippi River levee in Desha County. I asked for other remembrances and received a reply from Mary Lasiter about her memories of the rolling store in the Green Hill area of Drew County. Our memories were so similar I thought you might like to read Mary’s story, so it is reprinted here with Mary’s permission.
Drew Central fourth graders researched different counties in Arkansas as part of a study of Arkansas History. Using the information gathered, students created floats out of shoe boxes and held the 3rd annual Arkansas float parade for the elementary students.
