A Drew Central baseball player, Gavin Wear, is losing his eye sight to a genetic disorder, his mutation is rare with only 6% with his condition having their eye sight affected.
His only chance for treatment and to regain some of his eye sight and potentially get back on the field is to travel to the Fedorov Restore Vision Clinic in Berlin, Germany. Read the rest of this entry »

The Keep Arkansas Beautiful Commission (KAB) has announced that it has elected Mark Simpson as chair and Jeremy Sparks as vice-chair on its 2021 board of commissioners. Simpson and Sparks follow a long line of dedicated chairs. South Arkansas Community College has released its Dean’s List for the fall 2020 semester. To be eligible, a student must have at least a 3.0 grade-point average for the semester, and be classified as full-time. The students are:

Tuesday afternoon,
1 – 3pm, there will be a food truck delivering around 1,000 boxes of free food on the Revival Center parking lot, at Pine & Jackson Streets.
There are no requirements to meet to receive food from this event.
Please share this with anyone who may have been effected by the recent bad weather or missed work.
The Lacey-Ladelle and Selma Water Associations have been placed under the same boil order as Monticello City Water, since they are supplied by Monticello services.
“We have not found any leaks on our main lines. If the residents would check there lines and make sure they have no leaks we would greatly appreciate it.”

Drew Central School District will return to normal instruction, on-site and virtual, Tuesday, February 23.
Major roads, like 278 and 425, are pretty much clear.
Other highways and county roads are very slick and hazardous, made even more treacherous by Monday morning fog. shown here is 277, going towards Tillar.
Non-highways, like Meadowview Drive in Western Pines, are very slick and slushy.
Monticello & Drew Central Schools, and UAM are all virtual, today.
The Drew County Courthouse is open today.
Drew County will attempt to run regular trash routes, starting today. Please have dumpsters moved out of snowbanks, so employees can reach them.
City Hall is open today, and the city is running regular trash routes.
Head of the Class will be open today.
Drew Central Schools will continue virtual learning on Monday, February 22.
All UAM campuses open Monday, 02-22-21, with a two hour delay.
Instruction will be virtual.
