Last Thursday, George Harris celebrated 40 years of banking, during Monticello’s official “George Harris Day,”as declared by the mayor.
Commercial Bank celebrated with George’s customers, family and friends, throughout the day.
During the event, Todd Smith, the new President of the bank, shared Mayor Chase’s proclamation.
George shared some thoughts, along with a slideshow with 40 years of memories, and bank owner Bennie Ryburn thanked George for his years of service to the bank and the community.



































Although we haven’t had official confirmation, Monticello school buses are leaving on their routes, starting shortly after 6 AM, this morning, which implies that school will be meeting at regular schedule, today.
Drew Central will have school, Today, in spite of the widespread power outage.

According to Entergy, at 4:43, a fault occurred between Warren and Monticello causing an outage to approximately 3372 customers.







At 8:04 PM, Labor Day evening, just before light rain began to fall in the area, the Monticello Fire Department was paged out to the report of a woods fire, caused by a tree limb falling on a powerline and igniting grass in the area, which spread.
