The tornado that hit Montrose and the surrounding area, Monday night between 730 & 8 pm has been officially classified as an EF2.

The churches of the SEARK Baptist Network came together during the aftermath of the tornado in Montrose to help feed the city and workers. The feeding unit was deployed Tuesday through Thursday.
Focus now has shifted to supporting chainsaw crews as they do cleanup.
Members of Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church are combining their efforts with Hamburg’s Promise Land church and the ABA, to help the storm victims from Montrose’s Monday night tornado with cleanup.
Members of the church, along with equipment are meeting other members in Montrose, this morning, to help in their time of need.
Kendall is a regional company, that is best known for assisting Entergy with power line, trimming maintenance and other similar tasks.
Kendall has employees that live in Monticello and work in the region.
Approximately a dozen Kendell vehicles were seen this morning, traveling south to assist storm victims in southeast Arkansas, likely in the Montrose/Portland area.
Since the single-digit temperatures, early last week, the city of Wilmar has been battling a water shortage, along with a still-in-effect boil order.
We spoke with the city water office, and as of the middle of this week, they are hoping to have the 190,000 gallon city water tank back to its regular full status by Friday.
As we understand it, no large water leaks were found, but several smaller ones were located, usually on residential property.
Residents are still being asked to conserve water, where possible. An example would be not washing cars or other large used activities.
The “overnight outages“ were discontinued several nights ago.
According to Monticello Police Chief Carlos Garcia, Tuesday morning, at approximately 4:28 am, The Monticello Police Department received a call reporting a disturbance at a residence on Hwy 278 East of town. Read the rest of this entry »
