At approximately 1:10, Wednesday afternoon, there was a one vehicle accident that involved a portion of the front part of the old cemetery on the Green Hill New Hope Road side. Several monuments were either broken or destroyed.

According to someone at the scene, he counted approximately 17 monuments that were damaged.

If you or someone you know has a family member buried in this vicinity you will want to check to see if your family members were affected.

The young man driving apparently had medical issues. Thankfully no one was hurt.

Early Voting Open, Today thru Monday at Courthouse, for What Used to Be “May Primary” – Vote For or Against Biden or Trump – Only 320 Votes Cast, So Far!!

First, this is being written as an editorial explanation, not as a news article.

Early voting is taking place at the Drew County Courthouse, today, through Monday, including Saturday, for the preferential primary for President of the United States, and other offices. Election day will be Tuesday at the regular Drew County polling centers.

This is the election that used to be called the “May primary“ but it has been moved forward to March 5.

This is the election where you can vote for or against President Joe Biden, or the other Democratic candidates, to be the Democratic nominee for president.

If you vote in the Republican primary, this is where you can vote for or against former president Donald Trump, or the other Republican candidates to represent the Republican party in November against the Democratic primary winner.

This was not meant to tell you who to vote for or against, but simply to explain the importance of the current election, and tell you who is being voted for, or against, at the courthouse between now and Tuesday, which is “Election Day“.

A storage shed and a field was destroyed during the fire.

Sunday Grass & Shed Fire

Sunday, at 2:46 PM, MFD was paged to a grass fire on Cherry St. Upon arrival they found several sheds that were on fire. The grass fire had spread quickly with the high winds. Please do not burn as we are under a high fire danger. We are not under a burn ban as it can be safe to burn with common sense. Also, please ensure you have your burn permit before burning.
