FBC Monticello Invites Jones In View Of A Call

May 14th, 2021 by

FBCJonesFirst Baptist Church of Monticello, Arkansas has turned to a familiar face for its senior pastor position.

Dr. Kelly Jones has been invited to preach in view of a call on Sunday, May 23 during the 10 a.m. Worship Service. He is currently the campus director of the Arkansas Baptist Homes for Children in Monticello, a position he has held since July of 2018.

FBC Monticello members and repeat guests need no introduction to Jones. He and his family have been active members of the church since moving to the community nearly three years ago. He has stepped in as guest preacher from time-to-time, and is currently serving as guest preacher for all but one Sunday in the month of May, delivering a series about the generational impact of the Gospel.

Jones and his wife of 24 years, Joan, have four children: Adam (19), Nick (14), Maryjoy (11), and Brooklyn (10).

Prior to taking leadership of the Arkansas Baptist Homes for Children in Monticello, Jones held senior pastor positions at FBC Harrisburg (Ark.) from 2010-18 and FBC DeWitt (Ark.) from 2006-10. He has also served on the pastoral staff at Faith Baptist Church in Bartlett (Tenn.) and Second Baptist West Helena (Ark.). He was ordained as a minister at Faith Baptist. He was ordained as a deacon in 1998 at Second Baptist West Helena, where he also served as a Sunday school teacher and discipleship training teacher.

Jones is a graduate of Phillips Community College and Delta State University. He received a master of divinity from Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary and a doctor of ministry from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
