At 2 PM, Monday, in addition to the other “same time“ wrecks worked by Monticello Police, there was a third involving a delivery van and a personal vehicle, behind AutoZone on Highway 425 South.

No ambulances or wreckers were needed.

Yes, there were actually three wrecks at the same time in Monticello, Monday at 2 PM.

According to Arkansas State Police, around 2:20 PM, Wednesday, a Monticello woman lost her life in a car crash on HWY 278 Bypass, near the Highway 35 intersection. (more…)

At 7:39, Wednesday evening, Monticello and McGehee Fire Departments were dispatched to an entrapment at the intersection of Highway 277 & 278, commonly known as the Tillar turn. (more…)

This vehicle was traveling east towards McGehee, when it lost control on a patch of ice, and went into the southbound ditch of Highway 278.

No one was injured; Drew County Sheriffs Deputies responded,.

Please drive safely, this is the first of what will likely be dozens of ditched vehicles (and wrecker  bills), today!

Between 9-10 PM, Sunday night, the driver of this Ford sedan told bystanders that the accelerator stuck, causing the vehicle to hit a parked car in Wendy’s, then travel across Highway 425 and come to a stop between Bartons and ATT.

MPD worked the accident scene.

No injuries were reported.

Please remember, with temperatures in the 20s, anything that looks wet, will be frozen.

Around 6:30 PM, Wednesday evening, Drew County Sheriffs Deputies were dispatched to an “almost rollover” involving a loaded log truck, at the intersection of S. Allie Rd. and Highway 278, approaching Wilmar.

When deputies arrived, no one was injured, and crews were on the way to unload the logs and cleared the roadway.

The Arkansas Department of Transportation is planning to repair the damage done to the HWY 425 overpass, which occurred in mid October, in the very near future (around Thanksgiving).

Tthe heavy bridge division of the department describes the damage to the Monticello Overpass as “cosmetic“ and does not pose any threat or danger to safety.

Specific schedule updates and any construction detour information will be posted as it becomes available.
