Roll-Over Wrecks Keep Rescue Team Rolling over Recent Days

Yesterday, around 4:30, Monticello Fire & Rescue team was paged out to the report of a Mercedes SUV that had flipped on HWY 35, near Lake Monticello. 

The vehicle was eastbound, lost control, and flipped, before coming to a stop with the driver pinned inside.  A firefighter arriving on the scene helped her get out of the vehicle, as others were arriving.  MASI transported the Little Rock lady to DMH, DCSAO worked the crash site.  Dan’s Towing removed the Mercedes.

Sunday morning, Fire & Rescue were called to Davis Street, where a man was backing out of his driveway, when he missed the road, and backed over a large culvert, rolling his car over into a ditch, pinning him inside of his Hyundai.

He was safely removed from his  car.  MPD worked the wreck scene, C&L removed the car from it’s perched position.

9/11/2010 – A Busy Day for Local Emergency Personnel

Friday Midnight Wreck at “The River” – Fleeing Driver Turns Himself In Saturday

The driver of this Ford LTD-Crown Victoria reportedly pulled out of The River on HWY 278, around midnight, Friday night, into the path of the Windstar van, which was traveling east.

The driver of the van was not injured.  The driver of the Crown Vic fled the scene on foot.  He did reconsider his hecision, and turned himself in to police Saturday.  He was charged with leaving the scene of an accident and no proof of insurance.

MPD and DCSO worked the accident. Reliable Towing andRods’s Wrecker removed the vehicles.

Log Truck Jack-Knifes on HWY 83 North – Edited

Around 5 pm, Thursday, Drew County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to HWY 83 North, where both lanes were blocked by a Freightliner log truck that was jack-knifed, jut north of Rabb Road.

The driver told MLive that as he came around the curve (northbound), he saw a tractor, and hit the breaks, which caused the empty log truck to begin to skid, causing the wreck.

No one was inured, Reliable Towing towed the big rig from the wreck scene.

Over the Creek, & Through the Woods……..

The driver of this Saab convertible had a scary ride this morning, around 10:30, when she lost control of her vehicle on HWY 425, north of Lacey, as she was traveling north.

The Saab crossed the ditch, and struck a tree, as it crossed over a creek.

The car came to rest with it’s front wheels and back wheels on different side of he creek.

No one was injured.  Arkanss State Police worked the accident’ C&L Wrecker towed the convertible.

 

Monte Carlo Collides With Tanker Truck

The driver of this Chevy Monte Carlo was southbound, Thursday around 11:45, when the vehicle hydroplaned, spinning around, and crossing into the northbound lane.

As the car entered the northbound land, the passenger side collided with the tanker truck, shown here.

The accident occurred on HWY 425 North, near Cablevision. No one was injured. MPD and MFD responded,  Rod’s Wrecker towed the Chevy.

Stolen Car Found Wrecked – Information Sought

According to Sheriff Mark Gober, the Drew County Sheriff’s Department is looking for information regarding the theft of white Infiniti i30 four-door sedan which was reported stolen from Old Deane Road at 1:30 AM Wednesday, July 4th.

Tuesday Wrecks

There were 2 different wrecks Tuesday night, both sending vehicles into the nearby wooded areas.

Around 9 pm, an Infinity lost control on Firing Range Road, near Price Lumber.  The driver fled the scene, but a cold beverage was reportedly seen rolling around the floorboard, as the vehicle was removed from the scene.  DCSO worked the scene, Reliable Towing pulled the vehicle out of the trees.

Around 10 pm DCSO, along with the Fire and Rescue Squad, responded the report of a Ford 4-door pick-up that had rolledover on Old Warren Road.  The 2 pasengers were extricated from the truck, and transported to Drew Memorial Hospital by MASI.

Fatal Wreck Claims Life of Local Man

Michael Keith Williams age 43 of Warren, was killed Saturday, as the result of an automobile accident in Bradley County. According to Arkansas State Police, early Sunday morning, Williams was driving his Chevy pick-up west on Bradley County Road 34, when the truck left the roadway, struck a tree, and overturned.  There were two other passengers in the vehicle. 

Williams was an electric technician for J. P. Price Lumber Company.

Frasers Funeral Home is in charge of the funeral services.

 

Friday Wreck Sends 2 to Hospital

Around 3 pm, Friday afternoon, a Mercury Grand Marquis and a Jeep Cherokee were involved in a severe automobile crash on HWY 425 North, at Rose Hill Cut-Off.

Two occupants of the Jeep were transported to DMH by MASI.

The Drew County Sheriff’s Dept. worked the scene and traffic, which was cut down to 2 lanes.

Reliable Wrecker and Dan’s Towing removed the vehicles.

No One Injured in Roll-Over Wreck

Thursday, just before noon, the driver of this Chevy truck lost control of the vehicle, on HWY 35 West.

The vehicle struck a mailbox, before rolling onto it’s roof.

Neither the driver or the passenger were injured in the accident.

Arkansas State Police, Drew County Sheriff’s Deputies, and MASI responded.

Early Morning Crash Send Driver to UAMS

Monticello Fire & Rescue was paged out to extricate the driver of this westbound Chevy pick-up out of the vehicle, around 5:30, Monday morning.

Marks at the scene show the vehicle left the roadway on the north side of the highway, crossed the ditch, and collided with a concrete embankment, near the I-530 intersection.

Drew County Sheriff;s deputies worked the crash, Affordable Wrecker towed the Chevy, and MASI transported the driver to DMH, where he was then helicoptered to UAMS in Little Rock

“Mulligan on the 9th Hole”

In the game of golf, a “do over” on the tee shot is often called a “mulligan”.

Around 8 am, Tuesday morning, the driver of this Volkswagen certainly needed a “do over” as the vehicle lost control as it topped Country Club Hill, crashed through a fence, narrowly missing a power pole, before flipping, and finally coming to rest between a group of trees (on the sidewalk near the 9th hole of the golf course). 

According to reports, the driver was not injured.

A neighbor told MLive, in 17 years living nearby, she has seen 8 major wrecks near that hill and intersectin.

MPD and DCSO worked the accident,  C&L Wrecker towed the VW.

 

Fertilize Truck Overturns on Florence Road, Rescue, EMTs, Police Respond – Update

The driver of a Bayou Grain 18-wheeler fertilize delivery truck apparently took a curve on Florence Road too fast, around 10 o’clock, Tuesday morning, resulting in a hopper trailer of farm fertilize being dumped into a road ditch.

The driver was extricated from the crushed cab of the vehicle by the Fire & Rescue Team, and them transported to the JRMC trauma center.  Someone at the scene said his injuries didn’t appear to be life threatening.

Triple A Towing is shown in the video, setting the truck upright.

A “bobcat” was cleaning up the spilled product, as evening was approaching, along with several individuals with buckets, collecting fertilize for their personal use.  Contact Ronnie Adcock at 723-2260 for info.

 

3 Vehicle Crash at 425/278, Saturday

No one was seriously injured, around 3:45 Saturday, in a 3 vehicle collision at the HWY 425/278 intersection.

A Ford pick-up reportedly ran a red-light, and was struck in the driver’s door by a Pontiac Grand Prix.  Another vehicle was also struck, receiving less damage than the Ford and Pontiac.

Monticello Police and an Arkansas State Trooper responded to work the traffic and accident.

New Year’s Eve Police Report – 1 Wreck, 5 DWI Arrests

At least a dozen law enforcement officers were on patrol on New Year’s Eve, representing MPD, DCSO, and State Troopers, which may have been enough to convince some “celebrators” to “let somebody else drive.”

But that wasn’t the case for everyone, with 5 Drew County arrests being made on potential DWI charges, after the festivities ended well after midnight.

Tractor Trailer – Farm Trailer Collision on 425 South

Around 5:30, Saturday morning, the driver of the trailer of hay bales (shown below) seems to have pulled out in front of the Tyson 18-wheeler.  Both vehicles were traveling north on HWY 25 South. 

The collision occurred between All-Occaision Florist and Jordan Drive.

The driver of the Tyson truck was transported to DMH to be checked for injuries.

Triple A Towing removed the big-rig, so the roadway could be re-opened.

Monticello Police, assisted by Drew County Sheriff’s deputies, worked the crash site.

 

Fatal Collision Near Lacey, Wednesday Morning

HWY 425 South, just north of Ladelle, was the scene of a fatal motor vehicle collision, Wednesday morning around 6:15, as this Ford pick-up collided head on with this Toyota Corolla.  Monticello’s Fire and Rescue Team was called out to extricate the occupants from one of the vehicles.

Friday Crash Victim Dies Monday

James Glenn, age 85, of Drew County, died Monday from injuries sustained Friday afternoon around 3 pm, in an automobile accident on HWY 293, near Selma Mill Loop.

According to Arkansas State Police reports, Glenn’s Ford Ranger failed to stop and ran into the rear of a loaded log truck, which had stopped, and was waiting to turn left.

Glenn was transported to Drew Memorial Hospital, and them transferred to Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock, where he died from his injuries.

Severe Log Truck Crash Caused by Loose Utility Trailer from Passing Vehicle

According to reports from the Arkansas State Police, the reason for the May 19 crash of a log truck, where the driver was air-lifted from the site near Enon Baptist Church, was that the log truck first collided with a utility trailer that came loose from a passing vehicle, causing the driver to lose control.

After hitting the utility trailer, the loaded big rig swerved right, then left (into a bridge railing), across a deep ditch, into a line of trees, where the tractor-trailer came to a stop. with the load of logs crushing the cab.

According to Prosecuting Attorney Thomas Deen, Jimmy Shrum stated that he initially did not realize that he had lost his trailer.  He did go to the sheriff’s office and ultimately did return to the scene of the accident to provide the needed information.   Based on that information, the state declines to pursue felony prosecution. Tahoe Crashes into Car, Car Crashes into House, Tuesday

Around 4 pm, Tuesday afternoon, the driver a a Chevy Tahoe lost control of his vehicle, causing it to crash into a Buick Sentry, which was parked in the driveway of a residence at the corner of East Jackson and South Conley.

The Buick was then pushed into the corner of the home by the momentum of the Tahoe.

Monticello Police, assisted by the Arkansas State Police and Drew County Sheriff’s Dept. investigated the accident scene.  No one was injured.

Witnesess told police that the lady who lives there was sitting on the front porch in one of the two chairs there, reading her Bible, when the porch was hit by the vehicle.  She was not touched, but the other chair on the porch was thrown across the yard.

Myron Briggs, age 36,  was charged with drinking in public and failure to maintain control of a vehicle.   The vehicle he was driving reportedly did have insurance.

Triple A Towing and Rod’s Wrecker removed the vehicles.

2 Sent to Hospital after Wreck near Fred’s

Around 4 pm, Friday, Monticello Police were called to a car crash on HWY 425 South, near Fred’s.

According to witnesses at the scene, the driver of a Buick Roadmaster was crossing Bolling Street, toward the Fred’s parking lot, and pulled in front of a southbound Buick Skylark.

One person from each vehicle was transported to Drew Memorial by MASI. The Skylark was towed by Triple A Towing.  The Roadmaster was removed by Rod’s Wrecker.  Drew County Sheriff’s Deputies assisted MPD.

16 People Transported to DMH, Following 2 Separate Auto Accidents

For the second afternoon in a row, car crashes have kept police, ambulance crews, tow trucks, and hospital staff busy.

Tuesday around 2:30, according to reports from bystanders, a westbound Pontiac Grand Prix, shown here, failed to stop, at the intersection of HWY 278 East and Cherry Street.  The Pontiac collided with the rear of a GMC Envoy.

There were 5 passengers in the Pontiac, and 3 in the GMC.  SEEMS and MASI both responded.  A total of 8 people were transported to Drew Memorial from the wreck, including a couple who went by personal vehicle.

Monticello Fire & Rescue was paged out to remove occupants from the vehicles.   MPD worked the wreck, assisted by Arkansas State Troopers.  Triple A towed the Pontiac.

2 hours later, around 4:30, a Hyundai Elantra pulled out of a driveway at Montongo hill, on HWY 425 North, into the path of a southbound Mazda Tribute.

The Hyundai came to a stop after crossing a deep ditch, with passengers remaining trapped inside, causing Fire & Rescue to be called again.

SEEMS responded with 2 ambulances, and along with some who chose to ride in personal vehicles, a total of 8 accident victims were transported to Drew Memorial, from this crash as well.  Following this collision, 2 patients were taken to Little Rock and 2 more went to JRMC in Pine Bluff.

Drew County Sheriff’s deputies worked the scene.

2 2-vehicle car crashes in 2 hours sent a total of 16 victims to Drew Memorial.
