At approximately 01:40, this morning, A structure fire destroyed a local home, on Selma-Collins Road. Departments that responded were Collins-Cominto FD, Selma FD, Winchester-Tillar FD, Dermott FD, Drew County Sheriff Deputies & OEM.

Just before 3 PM, Sunday afternoon, Drew County Deputies and the Monticello Fire Department were notified of a vehicle fire, in the lakebed of Lake Monticello. (more…)

Around 130, Wednesday afternoon, Arkansas Forestry Commission, Collins-Cominto and Dermott Fire Departments, along with a Drew County OEM responded to a woods fire on Highway 35 E., located near Paradise Place, the railroad crossing on Highway 35.

Minutes before 2:00, Sunday afternoon, the Monticello Fire Department received a page-out to the Mason Hill area to battle a home fire.

The cause of the fire is not known, at this time, but the residence was a total loss.

As a result of the dry conditions prior to recent rains, combined with multiple grass fires that spread into wood fires, Ashley County has been placed under a burn ban.

With dry weather returning, although Drew County is not currently included, please use caution or refrain from burning anything outside, as conditions are returning to dry and susceptible to fires.

At approximately 5:40 pm, Thursday, the Monticello  Fire & Police Departments responded to the report of a fire at Western Sizzlin.

The fire was a grease fire, contained to the kitchen area, which was quickly extinguished.

Only minor damage was done and the restaurant is expected to reopen, today.

Western Sizzlin appreciates MFD‘s quick response, in case the fire had been more severe.

Early New Year’s morning, Collins- Cominto Volunteer Fire Department responded to an ATV fire on South 16 Section Rd.

This goes to show, as many other times, the dedication of our local Drew County Fire Departments!

On September 23, volunteer firefighters from the Clear Creek Fire Department responded to this home fire, to find it fully engulfed upon their arrival.

Also responding were a Drew County Sheriff Deputies and OEM.
