At approximately 01:40, this morning, A structure fire destroyed a local home, on Selma-Collins Road. Departments that responded were Collins-Cominto FD, Selma FD, Winchester-Tillar FD, Dermott FD, Drew County Sheriff Deputies & OEM.

Around 130, Wednesday afternoon, Arkansas Forestry Commission, Collins-Cominto and Dermott Fire Departments, along with a Drew County OEM responded to a woods fire on Highway 35 E., located near Paradise Place, the railroad crossing on Highway 35.

Minutes before 2:00, Sunday afternoon, the Monticello Fire Department received a page-out to the Mason Hill area to battle a home fire.
The cause of the fire is not known, at this time, but the residence was a total loss.

As a result of the dry conditions prior to recent rains, combined with multiple grass fires that spread into wood fires, Ashley County has been placed under a burn ban.
With dry weather returning, although Drew County is not currently included, please use caution or refrain from burning anything outside, as conditions are returning to dry and susceptible to fires.

At approximately 5:40 pm, Thursday, the Monticello Fire & Police Departments responded to the report of a fire at Western Sizzlin.
The fire was a grease fire, contained to the kitchen area, which was quickly extinguished.
Only minor damage was done and the restaurant is expected to reopen, today.
Western Sizzlin appreciates MFD‘s quick response, in case the fire had been more severe.

Late in the afternoon, on the last Thursday in June, the Monticello Fire Department responded to Cherry Street for a report of a car fire.
Upon their arrival they found this new Chevrolet Corvette burning, with the driver standing nearby.
The driver reported traveling down the street, being flag down by a neighbor, and told that his car was on fire.
The car was a total loss.
