Robert Gibson was sworn in as Circuit Judge, by his father, retiring Judge Bynum Gibson, Friday in Hamburg.

Crews Puryear was sworn in as Circuit Judge by retiring Judge Sam Pope, Friday in Arkansas City.

Laurie Bridewell was sworn in as Circuit Judge, Friday in Hamburg, by appointed Judge Sandra Bradshaw, who completed the term of Kenny Johnson, who died in office.

Due to the closing of the Drew County Courthouse, Monday, Circuit Court will be held in the Justice Building, at 107 E. Jackson St., in the old library.

Paul W. Keith of Hamburg was sworn in as the President of the Arkansas Bar Association on June 12. The swearing-in ceremony by Chief Justice Dan Kemp took place virtually during the association’s Annual Meeting Virtual Conference. (more…)

District Judge Bruce Anderson has announced that the District Court building will reopen on Monday, June 1, 2020. The District Court office will be open during regular hours, which are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday. (more…)

Monticello District Court Clerk, Julie Watkins, recently completed all requirements set forth by the National Center for State Courts and was recognized by the Arkansas Supreme Court as a Certified Court Manager. 

In earning her certification, Mrs. Watkins completed 120 hours in topics including: Court Performance Standards, Project Management for Courts, Purposes & Responsibilities of Courts, etc.

Drew County Circuit Court jury duty is canceled for Tuesday and Wednesday.

Jurors don’t have to report.

District Judge Bruce Anderson wants the public to know that he has an “Open Court” day in Monticello District Court on the 2nd Tuesday of each month.

Anyone who wants to speak to Judge Anderson about an old fine, a driver’s license suspension, or any other matter, may come to District Court on the open court day and do so.

No appointment is necessary. However, anyone wanting to speak to Judge Anderson should arrive at 8:30 AM.
