At approximately 1:41 AM, Monday morning, National Weather Service Doppler Radar indicated a severe thunderstorm with possible “hook effect“ that produced a tornado warning for portions of southeast Arkansas, including northwest Drew County.

Drew county OEM set off weather warnings in the affected areas.

Monticello Mayor Paige Chase has announced that she is not seeking reelection to that position.

She told MLive, “It is with gratefulness that I tell you I will not run for another term as Mayor. I would not leave this office without making sure it was in good hands.

I have greatly enjoyed my time in this office and I am proud of the things we have accomplished. (more…)

Chief Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Frank Spain recently announced his candidacy for Prosecuting Attorney for Ashley, Bradley, Chicot, Desha, and Drew Counties. 

The reminder of this article was taken from his political announcement, which would have been released if another candidate had filed against him.

When election filing ended Tuesday, the unopposed Spain earned the right to serve as the next 10 Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney. (more…)
