According to Monticello Police Chief Jason Akers, last Tuesday, two men were arrested for felony drug charges after falling asleep in a vehicle at a local convenience store. Officers responded as a welfare check after receiving a report of the vehicle parked. (more…)

Boil Orders Continue, Expected to Lift Soon

Last week’s boil orders for southeast Monticello and other communities in Drew County, supplied by the Monticello water department, are still in effect.
The precautionary boil order was issued because of low pressure in the system, as a safety measure, and multiple “good reports“ have been returned from state agencies.
Operators are still waiting on final clearance from Little Rock to resume normal operation, and canceled the boil order.

3 Car Fender Bender on South Main

Around 8 AM, Monday morning, MPD received a report of a few minor 3 vehicle accident on S. Main St., near the intersection with Midway Route.
The vehicles involved were a Ford F150, a Ford Mustang, and a Toyota RAV4. No injuries were reported and no wreckers were needed.
MPD worked the accident.
