Last month I had the opportunity to join local history buffs to proclaim March, Archaeology Month. The highlight of Archaeology Month was a weeklong volunteer dig at the Hollywood Plantation near Winchester? the site of the historic pre-civil war log cabin that is currently being restored and developed into a heritage site by UAM. I mention this project because it is such a great example of what is right about our community in 2016.

Colton Oltmann is the youngest ever to win this tournament! Brandon Carter has won 3 times before, Josh York and Craig Wardlaw have won 5 times before. The Tournament was held in Kentucky at Barkley Lake. Blast off was out of Aurora, Ky on 4/16/16. It was a 12hr tournament that started at 7pm and ended at 7am on 4/17/16.
There was 54 boats in the tournament. 2nd place was a boat from Georgia.
The Fish count was:
1071-1st
575-2nd
560-3rd
555-4th
530-5th

Mr. Waymon Cox is an aluminum tig welder for War Eagle Boats that started to work here 23 years ago.

He continues to come to work each day and lay a good quality weld. Mr. Waymon said he started to work for Bill and Chick Ward in 1952, welding everything from boats to attic fans and awnings.
