On April 23rd, Monticello walkers go around the clock in the battle against cancer during the American Cancer Society Relay For Life. This celebration of life brings together numerous groups and individuals concerned about cancer in a unified effort to fight back.
Teams of enthusiastic citizens will gather at Weevil Pond for an overnight relay that celebrates anyone who has battled cancer, remembers loved ones lost and empowers all to fight back against the disease.
Relay For Life is a unique fundraising event that allows participants from all walks of life — including patients, medical support staff, corporations, civic organizations, faith-based groups and community volunteers — to join together to fight cancer. Relay For Life reminds us that progress has been made in the fight against cancer and that everyone who participates is making a difference.
Teams involved in the Relay for Life event will all work countless hours before, during and even after the event in an effort to raise money. Teams will host auctions, have a bake sale, sell t-shirts, etc. Team SeaArk Boats is sponsoring a raffle for a chance to win a SeaArk 1448MV boat (valued at $2,695). Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased by calling 870-723-1870, stopping by SeaArk Boats at 728 West Patton Street in Monticello or seeing any team member. The drawing will be held April 23rd at the Relay for Life event and you do not need to be present to win. A discounted trailer will also be available for purchase to the winner of the boat.
“Relay For Life is as much an awareness raiser about the progress against cancer as it is a fund raiser,” said Judy Wade, Team SeaArk Boats captain. “Many of the participants will be people who have been dealt with cancer themselves. Their involvement is proof of the progress that has been made in reducing cancer death rates and in the quality of life following cancer treatment.” (more…)
