Recently, at a wreck on W. Gaines St., MPD’s K-9, Cezar, was seen sitting in the driver seat, watching officers work a collision.

According to County Judge Robert Akin, a threat was received earlier this week over social media, which is believed to have been sent from outside of Drew County, threatening a violent act, during the Friday morning protest for “Justice for Marquis Martin,” which is scheduled to begin at 9 AM, Friday morning.

MLive will be at the courthouse during the protest and will post reports throughout the day, while it continues.

Just before 4 AM, Tuesday morning, the driver of this unloaded log truck was attempting a sharp turn in a curve when the truck overturned on to a Union Pacific railroad track, on Highway 159 near Masonville, just a couple miles across the Drew County line, towards McGehee. (more…)

Last Tuesday at 8:40 AM, MPD received a phone call from a resident of the College Street apartment complex, Monticello Estates, reporting that her ex- had broken into her home, and she had shot him.

Minutes before 6 pm, Thursday, shots were fired from at least one vehicle at this home in the Tanglewood area.

Two vehicles left the neighborhood, and reportedly were firing shots at each other, while traveling north on HWY 425. (more…)

This course, developed by the FBI and the Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division, clearly defines the criteria for hate crimes and provides insight into FBI hate crimes investigations.
