Bob Barnes has moved back to Monticello, since his wife passed away, and will be working at Salon Hello Beautiful (606 W.Bolling St.), just down the block from his former shop.

Monticello Police have confirmed the arrest of a Lake Village man, with family ties to Monticello, on the charges of breaking or entering vehicles, simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, theft of property over $1000, possession of meth or cocaine, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Monday morning, around 5:30 AM, the Collins-Cominto fire department responded to a combine fire, near Baxter. The combine was destroyed.

Tuesday, the Tillar fire department  was dispatched to a car fire, on HWY 277 near the intersection of HWY 278. Drew County sheriffs deputies also responded.

Thursday morning, around 7:30 AM, the Monticello fire department responded to a house fire in the 200 block of E. Shelton St. The damage was reportedly contain to the back area of the house. No one was injured in the fire.

Once again,  our appreciation goes out to our firefighters, across the county,  for their dedication to  protecting Drew County citizens, and our property.
