At 8:30 PM, the jury was still in deliberation and the criminal case of Douglas Flemister own 12 counts of theft of property, for undelivered boats from F&F Custom Boats, during the calendar years of 20 13–20 14.
The two day trial went to the jury for deliberation around 6:20 PM, this evening, and still remains in deliberation.
As of our last MLive trial update, it was 3:30, the court was taking a break, waiting on a local business owner to arrive and testify, before the case was turned over to the jurors for deliberation.

The prosecution had Larry Flemister (Doug’s uncle and business partner) clarify that when he stated that he approved of Doug’s actions and decisions at F&F, he meant in a general sense; not that he had overseen and approved of each individual action.

The case of a local businessman went before a Drew County Circuit Court jury, Wednesday, facing 12 counts of theft of property, during 2013-2014.
At 7:45, Tuesday morning, a 3 vehicle accident at Bolling Street’s intersection with Highway 425 S., blocked two lanes of traffic, in front of Freds. (more…)

The city of Monticello’s new “trash compactor” is being installed today and Thursday at the “Transfer Station”.
City trash pick up will not be affected, and a place is provided at the Transfer Station for citizens to drop off other trash, as needed.
The old compactor is shown being removed, and the new (blue) one will be installed in its place, at a cost of just under $54,000.
A Monticello man was taken into custody, Tuesday night around 6 PM, in Garland County following what is believed to be his third police pursuit, since being suspected of shooting a gun at a school employee in Hot Springs, causing a 2 school lockdowns.
Monticello Police have asked for the public’s assistance in locating Kenno Forrest, who is being considered a “person of interest” following a “shots fired” report from a Hot Springs school employee, Friday, after a suspect was caught stealing gas.
Two schools were then locked down as a precaution, as the search for the then unknown suspect began.
Ace Benjamin Rawls turns 3 years old on Tuesday, January 27, 2015. He is the son of Jeff Rawls and Jamie West Rawls and the little brother of Jaxon Rawls of Monticello.
He is the grandson of David and Cindy Rawls and Jim and Julie West all of Monticello.
Ace is the great-grandson of the late Curly & Katherleen Rawls, J. D. & Sandra West, the late J.B. & Nelda Smith and the late Lucy Brown.
Recently, for his 91st birthday, WWII Veteran P.Q. Gardner received from his nephew, Larry Gardner, a Quilt of Valor.
Quilted by members of the Quilt of Valor Foundation, including Larry’s wife, Teddy, the quilt will be registered with the Foundation. These specially-made quilts are given to veterans and are a way of saying “Thank you for your service, sacrifice, and valor in serving our nation.”

Around 7 PM Monday night, 3 people were injured in a 2 vehicle head-on accident, on Highway 35 East.
Levees on the Arkansas and Mississippi River will be closed to all non-emergency vehicles until further notice, effective Monday. This will include levees in Lincoln, Desha, and Chicot Counties.
