Bonnie has served the last 15 years as office manager of KHBM, KGPQ, and KXSA. She began her work career as a teenager in Clara Bailey’s beauty shop.

Her immediate plans include spending time with her family.

As an “extended coworker”, you’ve been great to work with.

Joe RogersJoe Rogers has announced his candidacy for mayor of Monticello as an independent candidate in the special election and the general election.  Rogers is a native of Drew County and a resident of Monticello for 50 years. He has been the manager of his family owned business; Rogers Men’s Wear, for 32 years and served a four year term as Mayor of Monticello from 2007 through 2010.

Storm Damage from Afternoon Tstorm

During the severe thunderstorm and Drew County late Friday afternoon, this large tree on Lacey – New Hope Road fell on a C&L powerline, causing the treetop to catch fire.

Drew County Sheriff Deputies responded, as did the power company.  There were no estimates as to how long power would be disrupted.

imageAround 6 PM, Thursday evening, this loaded flatbed trailer was pulling out of Wilson Mill Road onto Highway 425 south of Monticello, when it struck a GMC Yukon, which was in the southbound turning lane, attempting to turn onto Wilson Mill road.

Joe Rogers Enters Mayors Race

002Former Mayor Joe Rogers entered the mayors race, Thursday, by filing his petition to run as an Independent in the June 24 special election.

Rogers also plans to run for the 4 year term as Mayor, in the general election, in November.

Rogers served as Mayor from 2007-2010, and runs Rogers Mens Wear.

“20 for the Future” Returns from Washington D .C.

image10 local business, community, and economic leaders from Monticello have just returned from Washington DC, where they met with our state’s senators and congressmen, seeking federal support for local projects.

imageProjects included I-530, I-69, and the need for a new science building at UAM.

MEDC’s Bennie Ryburn III considers the trip a success, “We met with a lot of good people that offered to assist us in the search for funding for the issues and projects that we presented to them. ”

7043 DrewBradley MZiemanMike Zieman, LUTCF, of Monticello was recognized at the Farm Bureau Statewide Agents and Agency Managers meeting March 13 for his total performance during 2013. Zieman received the Master Producer award for his outstanding insurance production. He also received the Southern Farm Bureau Life Insurance Company-Leadership Council award.

Arkansas Farm Bureau is a nonprofit, private farm and rural advocacy organization of more than 195,000 families throughout the state working to improve farm and rural life.
