Joe and Sue Burgess, of MonticelloLive.com, are celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary, today.
Joe points out that they got married the day of the 1994 baseball strike, so there was nothing else to do; Sue then reminds him the strike hasn’t lasted for 20 years, but the marriage has.
The photo was taken of an anniversary gift (sweets and sodas, of course).
A local restaurant is accepting resumes and applications for an experienced cook.

Monticello School today announces its policy for providing free and reduced price meals for children served under the National School Lunch Program, After school Snack Program, and/or School Breakfast Program. The central office has a copy of the policy, which may be reviewed by any interested party. The price charged for a paid student breakfast is $0.75 Pre-K-12th the price charged for a paid student lunch is $1.50 Pre-K-5th, and $1.75 6th-12th

On Tuesday, July 29, Deputy Jeremy Chapman was on patrol when he observed two suspicious vehicles parked at a local church after hours.
A Dodge pick-up pulled into the path of a log truck, around 3 PM, Monday, in Wilmar.

The main conversation point in the meeting tended to be City Council member Claudia Hartness’ concern with “facts”, “rumor “, and “transparency”; 3 words she used a total of 18 times in 15 minutes.

Around 6:15 this morning, the 21 year old driver of a vehicle with out-of-state license plates lost their life in a collision with an 18 wheeler.
Monday July 28th, Julian Polk was arrested by Monticello Police on a warrant. Polk was in circuit court facing burglary charges from earlier this year when his new arrest occurred.
Saturday, Drew County Deputy’s were dispatched to the Gee’s Landing area of the Saline River in reference to a young man threatening people’s lives, then firing rounds from a rifle.
