The Appleberry family of the Tillar Community has been chosen Drew County’s Farm Family of the Year.

The Appleberrys raise soybeans, rice, and corn on 3,400 acres. Some of acreage has been in their family for 74 years. They also raise cattle

Hank has been missing since Friday night. He was last heard barking at something in the woods.

He could be anywhere between Hwy 35 W and Barkada. He has an injured front foot and may be limping.

Congressman Bruce Westerman is shown here with Drew Central High School students, after visiting/guest-teaching their Wednesday morning class.

Around 50 students took  part in the discussion, which cover topics ranging from the federal budget,  the federal debt,   Social Security, and how to finance a pick-up truck.

Monday, Circuit Judge Bynum Gibson heard  some of the details involved in the upcoming case of 32 counts of fraud and forgery,  where a local  family owned lawn-care business was “robbed” of around $10,000 by an employee.

The April Yard of the Month winner is Deloris Forrest Bryan, of Forrest Lane on Hwy 35 West.

The selection was made by the Town & Country Garden Club and presented by the Monticello Drew County Chamber of Commerce director Glenda Nichols.

Drew County Fair Board Lawn Mower Races will be held May 23, at 4 PM, at the faigrounds.

Bring your lawn chairs.
Races start at 4 PM.
Admission is $5.00 /vehicle.
Pit passes are $8.00.

Approximately 30–40 acres of forest land was damaged by a woods fire. The fire occurred off of Miday Rt., West of its intersection with the I-69 Corridor

The Monticello Fire Department responded, along with the Arkansas Forestry Commission.

Around 11:30, Thursday night, a Monticello woman was arrested for DWI, careless driving, suspended license, and leaving the scene of an accident with injury, after striking a pedestrian with her car. Read the rest of this entry »

Saturday night will feature Prime Rib, prepared by Chef Elson Rivera.
