The Desha/Drew County Cattlemen’s Association met on Thursday December, 18 at the UAM Agriculture Building at 6:30 pm. A finger food supper was brought by members and blessed by President Jason Cater. Desserts were also provided by the membership. Following supper, annual officer elections were held. It was decided that all current officers would stay in their positions. Mr. Glynn Gibson made the motion and Mrs. Kay Erwin seconded. The motion passed. After elections a Christmas Hymn sing was held and Led by Mrs. Janine Eubanks. Those who help every month to get meetings set up were thanked and appreciated. And President Cater let members know about a special Christmas Eve, Eve service to be held at Old Troy Church. The meeting was then adjourned by President Cater. The Desha/Drew County Cattlemen’s Association would like to wish everyone a merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

In his new role as Senior Vice President, Nick will continue to oversee the bank’s technological infrastructure and security strategy, ensuring Commercial Bank remains at the forefront of digital innovation and customer service excellence.

On Thursday, the University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana (UAHT) and the University of Arkansas at Monticello (UAM) announced a new partnership to enhance access to affordable higher education in Arkansas. The collaboration enables UAHT students to pursue bachelor’s degrees from UAM at some of the most affordable tuition rates in the state.
Through the partnership, UAHT students on both the Hope and Texarkana campuses can pursue bachelor’s degrees from UAM in business and education.
The Bachelor of Arts in K-6 Elementary Education degree program is scheduled to begin in May 2026, with the Bachelor of Business Administration degree program following in August 2026. Both offerings are pending approval from the Arkansas Higher Education Coordinating Board and the Higher Learning Commission.
