Burglaries at Western Sizzlin’ & Pizza Hut Overnight

June 21st, 2011 by

Between the closing times of Western Sizzlin’ and Pizza Hut and when employees arrived at work Monday morning vandals forcefully entered both local restaurants in apparent efforts to get money.

Monticello Police are investigating both break-ins and weren’t able to release any information at the crime scenes.

A glass entrance door at Pizza Hut was broken and Western Sizzlin’ was entered through the back of the building .

Anyone who may have  noticed any suspicious activity is urged to call the Monticello Police Dept. at 367-3411.

That is so sad. First sonic and now these two businesses. It’s not safe anymore.

  2. What next?! says:

    Dear Thieves

GET A JOB AND YOU WOULDN’T HAVE TO STEAL!!! NOW ISN’T THAT A THOUGHT!!!!

    #ALLCAPSMEANIAMYELLING

  3. OMG says:

this is what happens when one 3rd of monticello is out of work.

I blame the ones who bought burlington/rug mill and shut it down forever

  4. LAX says:

Every citizen needs to arm themselves and apply a shoot to kill method of self defense.

  5. justlovinlife says:

Please do not make excused for their actions! Losing Burlington did not make these criminals steal or attempt to steal! The economy is terrible everywhere but the majority of us have a job and do the very best that we can do to survive without preying on others!

  6. GoodOldBoy says:

I know a couple business’s that if someone gets caught doing this at night, they will be found there come morning! Jus Sayin’

  7. worker of one of the business that got robbed says:

I work here and i was scared to work the next day. Not only am i pissed they broke into my work place but im mad they are not caught. This is crazy nobodys safe and i wonder whats next i mean really y dont u go get a job at mcdonalds or something they always are hiring . Get a life the stupid d that broke in better get caught

  8. Stacy Cater says:

Worker, were there any fingerprints taken at the scene of the crime? I had my car stereo stolen a few years ago and no prints were even taken. I was told they had just let a guy out of jail the day before who does that kind of thing and he had broken into other cars. had even been seen by one of the cars that was stolen from that night. In Iowa even lesser crimes are fingerprinted and criminals are caught.

  9. Stacy Cater says:

Also, everyone blames lack of jobs and lay-offs for everything. That’s a bunch of crap! There are jobs in Monticello. It may not be what someone wants, but it will put food on the table.Let’s blame what is more likely responsible—drugs.

  10. Dragonheart says:

Make it harder to break into these establishments. This is a wake up call people. Protect your investments. We know recessions create more crime but really, burglary is not a knew crime. Get a nice Doberman and put it in your business and see what happens then. better than an alarm.
