This vehicle was traveling east towards McGehee, when it lost control on a patch of ice, and went into the southbound ditch of Highway 278.

No one was injured; Drew County Sheriffs Deputies responded,.

Please drive safely, this is the first of what will likely be dozens of ditched vehicles (and wrecker  bills), today!

This crew of power maintenance/repair workers was seen at Rays, Wednesday morning.

Although they work in this area from time to time, on maintenance and improvements, they also take part in storm related outages, restoring power across a multistate region.

Based out of Canton, Mississippi, they are planning to be in Searcy Arkansas, later today, for the winter weather damage that is expected in the northern part of the state.

A lot of people know it’s always going to get colder but seem to forget until it’s the day that it happens.

While it’s still daytime, you probably want to find the faucet covers you haven’t used in a while.

Of course, many local hardware based businesses have them for sale, while supplies last.

It seems that every time cold or icy weather is forecast, many people stock up on three staples: milk, bread, and eggs.

Ironically, these are the main ingredients of French toast.

Just saying.

Starting at 7 PM, Saturday, up to 2 inches of snow accumulated on the hoods of vehicles and up to an inch on the top of homes.

However, none accumulated on roadways, because of ground heat. Any accumulation melted quickly, Sunday afternoon, with temperatures reaching around 50°.

Between 9-10 PM, Sunday night, the driver of this Ford sedan told bystanders that the accelerator stuck, causing the vehicle to hit a parked car in Wendy’s, then travel across Highway 425 and come to a stop between Bartons and ATT.

MPD worked the accident scene.

No injuries were reported.

Please remember, with temperatures in the 20s, anything that looks wet, will be frozen.

Shady Grove’s Disaster Relief team will be deploying to the Truman/Monette area  to aid and assist those in need. We will be delivering supplies to them Thursday afternoon and Sunday afternoon. Donations are welcome to help in our mission.
