Pauline Baptist Church wishes you Happy Thanksgiving, but that’s not where Thanksgiving ends for the group of  75 volunteers that gave up their Thanksgiving day to minister to others.

This morning, they prepared, packed, and delivered meals to over 475 local residents, and served several more to people  that came to the church’s fellowship hall for the traditional meal.

This is the second year that Pauline Baptist has turned Thanksgiving’s “warm feelings” into “hot meals”, as they share God’s love and campassion with Monticello.

Ryburn Automotive Superstore wishes all of our customers and friends the best of the holiday season, starting with a Happy Thanksgiving.

We will be closed today and Friday, so that our staff can spend time with our families.  Feel free to drive through our lot and see the wide selections of vehicles that we have available.  We’ll be back after Thanksgiving to answer any questions you have, and give you the keys to take that test drive.

We also want to thank you for making this a great year at Ryburn Motor Co., and we thank you for giving us that opportunity to serve you.

Second Baptist Church wants to remind people that God said ” If My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and heal their land. ” (II Chronicles 7:14)

We also want to encourage people to pray for the healing of our land, here in Monticello all across this great country of ours. This includes praying for the heat and drought we are currently experiencing, that God would grant us some relief!

With the recent hot and dry conditions, many city’s aren’t celebrating with fireworks, this year.

However, our friends over at MagnoliaReporter.com have agreed to share their local Tuesday evening fireworks display with us here on MLive.

Mother’s Day celebrations take place all around the world, although at different times. The feelings are the same no matter where in the world it is that you may celebrate Mother’s Day.

Children and their husbands love to celebrate Mother’s Day with their Mother’s (or mother of their children), showering them with love or remembering them with love. (more…)

In the true spirit of Thanksgiving, Pauline Baptist Church members spent yesterday morning preparing, serving, and delivering around 400 Thanksgiving dinners to Monticello area residents.

Giving their holiday to serve and minister to others; now that’s really celebrating the meaning of Thanksgiving.

Approximately 80 people were present at the Memorial Day Ceremony held at the Drew County Courthouse, Monday morning, sponsored by the local VFW, DAV, and American Legion posts.

Judge Damon Lampkin was the featured speaker.  Others on the program included Glenn Kellebrew, Rev. Rex Williams, Tommy King, Bill Moore, Lamar Butler, and Megan Brewer (who played Taps on the bugle).
