There are currently 156 elderly and/or disable residents in Drew County, who until this month, received a monthly box of groceries through a government program that’s now on hold in Drew County. Other food assistance resources are also at risk.
It is my prayer that we can come together as a community to make sure these neighbors continue to have food on their tables. I’m working on creating a list of the items they normally receive each month, calculating the cost, and organizing donations. Our plan is to box groceries and deliver them to specific locations, with a pickup option for others who are able.
$60 a person/box! Who wants to sponsor a neighbor? Before any money is collected from anyone, we want to make sure we reach our goal. Once that has happened I will contact you for your donation. If you are wanting to donate more than one box please list amount of your donation in the email. Thank you in advance.
If you’d like to help – whether by donating, packing, or delivering – please send an email to Amanda Killingsworth at mandak3@yahoo.com Every bit of help makes a difference.

The annual fundraising dinner for the Drew County Republicans will be held on Monday, October 6th at the Monticello Country Club. The keynote speaker will be 4th District Congressman Bruce Westerman.
Deep-rooted in Arkansas, Bruce Westerman was born and raised in Garland County. He graduated from Fountain Lake High School in Hot Springs before attending the University of Arkansas where he played football for the Razorbacks.
After graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological and Agricultural Engineering, he received his Master’s degree in forestry from Yale University. For more than 22 years, Bruce worked in engineering and forestry at Mid-South Engineering in Hot Springs. Developing a passion for public service, Bruce served as a board member on the Fountain Lake School District.
That dedication to public service grew, and in 2010, he was elected to the Arkansas House of Representatives. In 2012, Bruce was elected by his peers as the House Minority Leader, and in 2013 he became the first Republican House Majority Leader since Reconstruction. In the Arkansas legislature, Bruce championed conservative principles: lower taxes, limited government, and strong family values.
When the 4th Congressional District seat opened up in late 2013, Bruce was encouraged to take his conservative leadership to Congress. He won single-handedly, defeating both primary and general election opponents. In Washington, Congressman Westerman currently serves as Chairman of the House Natural Resources Committee, and is on the House Transportation Committee.

Jeremy Woodall, BCM Campus Minister at the University of Arkansas Monticello, is using his passion for a worthy mission. In 2020, he hiked the 223-mile Ouachita National Hiking Trail to raise funds and awareness for children in foster care. This November, he will be hiking for the same mission – homes for vulnerable children. This hike will help keep adoptions free for waiting families. At just over 200 miles, Jeremy will hike the Ozark Highlands Trail from Lake Fort Smith to the Buffalo National River.
This hike presents greater challenges, but Woodall is passionate about supporting the mission of Arkansas Baptist Children & Family Ministries. Jeremy is asking for 200 people to match his 200 miles by giving $100. All proceeds will go directly toward Connected Adoptions, a Division of ABCFM.

Several years ago Seark Miracle League started a project to create a baseball field for athletes with disabilities. During that project we realized the need for a park also. We wanted so badly for families in Southeast Arkansas to have access to a place their children could play ball and play safely.
Immanuel Baptist Church Monticello will be holding an online dessert auction starting Friday April 15th on their Facebook page.
Dessert items will be available at 10am with an item description, pictures, and starting bid. You will place your bid in the comment section under the picture. The highest bidder at 4 pm will be the winner. Desserts can be picked up anytime after they are won, but before 6pm.
All proceeds will go to help our Children attend summer church camp.

Due to health concerns and the unknown in the near future on gatherings due to the spike in covid our plans had to unfortunately change.
