The photo selected as this week’s “Flag of the Week” was taken near Gardner Plaza, where P.Q. Gardner, of Gardner Realty, is likely responsible for having flags displayed at 3 store fronts in a row.

MonticelloLive.com recently featured a flag patch from a National Guard uniform as the flag of the week, which brought several questions about the way that the flag faces on their uniforms.  MonticelloLive was told that the flag is sewn on that way to show how a flag would be flying, if it were being carried into battle.

This week’s flag of the week shows the patch from Monticello Police Officer Brad Johnston’s uniform, showing how law enforcement officers wear their flag patch.

Wal-Mart had an open house this week, and the local Naitonal Guard provided uniformed soldiers to post the colors.  This week’s flag was sewn on the arm of the uniform that one of them was wearing.

Monday, Drew Central Schools dedicated a new flag in honor of the 39 National Guard Unit, and Staff Sgt. Warren Haynie, shown here with Drew Central staff, and his 5th grade daughter, Brooke.

This week’s Flag of the Week is special.

The flag is used as an extra flag that is flown as a “back-up” flag at the intersection of Hwy 425  & 278.

The flag served a special purpose this week, when it was used at the Support Our Troops rally Thursday night.

Yes, that is a school bus that they’re standing on, to be able to display it.
