While pulling out of multiple driveways on HWY 425, this flag flying over Arkansas Carpet is in clear view.

Flags were flying at the Monticello Sports Comlex, during the recent State Babe Ruth State Softball Tournament.
First Assembly of God Church hosted the coach’s breakfast before the tournament, with table centerpieces like this one.
Drew Memorial Hospital celebrated with patriotic decorations, also.
The Arkansas Child Support Unit decorated their facility and waiting room with flags as well.

 Sunday was Flag Day.
There is one location in Monticello where you can see 3 United States Flags from.
In front of the Sears, you can see the MEDC’s flag at Walgreen’s (top left), Walmart (top right), and Sears (bottom right).
Also in recognition of Flag Day, local Veteran’s organizations were giving poppy’s to many local shoppers, most returned the courtesy by making a donation to the veteran’s service groups.
The Woodmen of the World Fraternal Insurance Company held a dedication ceremony for a new flag and flagpole at the VFW / American Legion buildings, Saturday.
This ceremony honored not only the heroes and victims of September 11, 2001, but those who fought, and lost their lives, and those who are currently serving in the fight against terrorism.
Others honored include policemen, firemen, rescue workers, and other first responders.
Drew County Judge Damon Lampkin told the group that the Quorum Court will now begin their meetings with the Pledge of Allegiance as well as a prayer. He also  thanked the veterans for the sacrifices that they have made, which have brought us our freedoms.
Judge Lampkin also paused to remember 3 recently deceased veterans: Robie Scott, Lawrence Allen, and Roy Grizzell, who were very active in the veteran’s organizations, and always attended events like this one.
The new flag was presented to the leaders off the VFW, American Legion, and Disabled American Veterans, who raised the flag, before lowering to half-staff for the rest of the day.

The local chapters of the VFW, DAV, and American Legion worked together to erect a new flag pole at Grace Christian Academy, on HWY 425 South.
The flag and flagpole were donated by Woodmen of the World.
A dedication service was held last week, with the children present, in order to show them respect for the flag, and explain the reason for flying the flag.
Children also received pamphlets teaching about the history of the flag.
MonticelloLive.com recently featured a flag patch from a National Guard uniform as the flag of the week, which brought several questions about the way that the flag faces on their uniforms. MonticelloLive was told that the flag is sewn on that way to show how a flag would be flying, if it were being carried into battle.
This week’s flag of the week shows the patch from Monticello Police Officer Brad Johnston’s uniform, showing how law enforcement officers wear their flag patch.
