Last Friday afternoon, shortly after 2:15 PM, Monticello and Selma fire departments responded to the report of a house, fire, on Highway 83 north.
No injuries were reported.

At 1:04, Friday afternoon, the Monticello Fire Department was dispatched to a combine fire, located in the field it was harvesting, on Florence Road.
The combine appeared to be a total loss, but damage to the crops was minimal.
Selma Volunteer Fire Department also responded.

At 8:04 PM, Labor Day evening, just before light rain began to fall in the area, the Monticello Fire Department was paged out to the report of a woods fire, caused by a tree limb falling on a powerline and igniting grass in the area, which spread. The kitchen fire was quickly contained, with no injuries reported.

Engines 1 & 2 responded.
The home was fully engulfed with roof failure upon arrival.
Crews were on scene until 3:15AM, with no injuries reported
It was a hot, humid fire scene. Our Firefighters persevered and got the job done.

OEM and Drew County Sheriff’s Deputies responded, and the fire was extinguished.

Saturday afternoon, around 3:20 PM, the Monticello Fire Department was paged out to a house fire in the 800 block of Main Street in Monticello.
The fire was contained to a back bedroom, with smoke damage throughout the home.
The fire is believed to have started from a electrical cord short, running to a window unit air conditioner.
As temperatures continue to rise, please check your appliance cords to make sure they are not worn or under other furniture.

Members of the Monticello Fire Department quickly responded to a request from the Ridgeway Apartments, yesterday afternoon, during the power failure.
A few residents of the facility were in the elevator, during the outage, and were safely removed without any issues upon MFD’s arrival.

At approximately 1:30, yesterday afternoon, a grass fire headed towards the woods at South Allis Road’s intersection with Dave Knight Road, southeast of Wilmar, drew response from the Wilmar Fire Department, Drew County Sheriffs office, and OEM.
Multiple firefighters responded, and the blaze was extinguished, before it got out of control.
