Last Friday afternoon, shortly after 2:15 PM, Monticello and Selma fire departments responded to the report of a house, fire, on Highway 83 north.

No injuries were reported.

At 1:04, Friday afternoon, the Monticello Fire Department was dispatched to a combine fire, located in the field it was harvesting, on Florence Road.

The combine appeared to be a total loss, but damage to the crops was minimal.

Selma Volunteer Fire Department also responded.

At 8:04 PM, Labor Day evening, just before light rain began to fall in the area, the Monticello Fire Department was paged out to the report of a woods fire, caused by a tree limb falling on a powerline and igniting grass in the area, which spread. MFD quickly responded and extinguish the fire, with no injuries or substantial property damage. Photo courtesy of firefighters association.

At 2 PM, Tuesday, Monticello dispatch paged out Drew County Sheriffs Deputies an Arkansas State Trooper and Monticello Fire & Rescue to a crash scene, north of Montongo on Highway 425, for a two car collision, with possible entrapment. (more…)

MFD Engines 1 & 2 responded to a residential structure fire on North Rose St. at 5:27 pm,  Saturday.

The kitchen fire was quickly contained, with no injuries reported.

At 2:55 pm, on August 7, MFD Engines 1 & 2 responded to a residential structure fire on E. Willis Street.

The home was fully engulfed upon arrival.

No injuries reported.

At 11:11 pm, on August 4, the Monticello Fire Department was paged out to a residential structure fire on East Bolling St.

Engines 1 & 2 responded.

The home was fully engulfed with roof failure upon arrival.

Crews were on scene until 3:15AM, with no injuries reported

It was a hot, humid fire scene. Our Firefighters persevered and got the job done.

At 5:40 AM, on August 2, the Monticello Fire Department was paged out to residential structure fire, on N. Spear St.

The structure was a totally lost period.

Early Saturday afternoon, County Judge Robert Akin issued a burn ban for Drew County, shortly after a woods fire burned approximately 55 acres of timberland, located west of the Old Warren Road/S. Wilmar Rd. intersection. (more…)

Wednesday, at 3:30 pm, the Collins-Cominto fire department, assisted by the Dermott fire department, responded to a small woods fire, at the intersection of South 16th Section Road and Burton Lake trail.

OEM and Drew County Sheriff’s Deputies responded, and the fire was extinguished.

At 3:48 pm, Monday afternoon, the Monticello Fire Department and Drew County Sheriffs Deputies responded to the report of a pick-up fire on Jose Chapel Road.

No injuries were reported.

Saturday afternoon, around 3:20 PM, the Monticello Fire Department was paged out to a house fire in the 800 block of Main Street in Monticello.

The fire was contained to a back bedroom, with smoke damage throughout the home.

The fire is believed to have started from a electrical cord short, running to a window unit air conditioner.

As temperatures continue to rise, please check your appliance cords to make sure they are not worn or under other furniture.

Members of the Monticello Fire Department quickly responded to a request from the Ridgeway Apartments, yesterday afternoon, during the power failure.

A few residents of the facility were in the elevator, during the outage, and were safely removed without any issues upon MFD’s arrival.

At 2:35 AM, Friday morning, Monticello dispatch received a fire report of a camper, located near Wilmar  Baptist Church. Drew county sheriffs deputies and Wilmar Fire Department responded, and had the fire quickly extinguished.

At approximately 1:30, yesterday afternoon, a grass fire headed towards the woods at South Allis Road’s intersection with Dave Knight Road, southeast of Wilmar, drew response from the Wilmar Fire Department, Drew County Sheriffs office, and OEM.

Multiple firefighters responded, and the blaze was extinguished, before it got out of control.

Contrary to rumors, there was no damage to the roof of Monticello Fire Station #2, near the UAM campus.

At 3:59, Wednesday afternoon, the Monticello Fire Department was paged to the report of a car fire in the area of 3200 Highway 425 North.
