Around 8:20, Saturday night, the fire hydrant near the intersection of Mill and Gaines Streets was struck by car, and begin flooding the area, with most of the water going to the Mill Street/278 drain.
Water service in the area was affected.

On March 14th at 2:00 p.m. at City Hall, bids were opened for a grant funded city drainage project that was applied for in 2023 as part of the Mayor’s infrastructure improvement agenda.
The project, encompassing Jackson, Conley and multiple side streets is funded by a grant from the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management. (more…)

The City is utilizing the Arkansas Department of Corrections labor squads to scrape back the grass that’s grown over the edge of some of our city streets and sidewalks.
This is being done to make things not only look better but to prepare for new striping on some of our streets that really need it.

The City of Monticello recently completed another much needed infrastructure project near Bowser Road.
The project replaced the Bowser Sewer lift station, which by all available information was nearly 50 years old. The old lift station was unable to accommodate the amount of sewage modern Monticello produces and often contributed to infrastructure related problems for residents in the area. (more…)

While drilling crews were working on S. Hyatt St., a shovel hit a summit gas line, causing the leak, which intern brought repair crews to the area, shutting down S. Hyatt St., between Shelton and Jackson.
