Kim Pigott Retires From Kim’s Dance Factory

Thursday, July 31st, 2025

After 31 years of teaching dance, gymnastics, and cheerleading to amazing students from Monticello and Southeast Arkansas, I am excited to announce my retirement from KDF.

From our humble beginnings at the old skating rink on 425 south to our dance and gymnastics spaces on the Monticello Square and, finally, to KDF’s current home since 2001, The Lord has blessed us with countless relationships with students and families over the years. Big thanks to them for the support and love they have shown me and my family. The Monticello / SEARK community has supported KDF and has made my career in dance such a joy!

I want to thank my husband, Steve, for his tireless support and for helping me make KDF a reality. Thank you to my sons, Cody, Clint, and Cade, for always supporting me and all the “dance projects.” To my parents, thanks for giving me the gift of dance when I was young that fueled this incredible journey. Thank you to my sweet friends who were always there to help and support !

To all members of the KDF Team over the 31 years, thank you!  We couldn’t have done it without you. Special thanks to Mary Ramsey, the best gymnastics teacher around, for our wonderful 24 year partnership.

KDF is very near and dear to my heart!
News about its future will be announced in the coming days!

Deer Then Enters Bella Luna Restaurant

Monday, June 10th, 2024

IMG_9556 IMG_9558It is believed that after the deer in the above story left the District Court building, it then ran north on Main Street 2 1/2 blocks, and entered the open door of Bella Luna restaurant, as they were moving furniture and fixtures out of the building.

It appears that as the deer entered the restaurant, it saw several people,  causing it to enter the enclosed front dining room area, where it laid down.

MPD was notified, quickly arrived, and notified AG&F, who dispatched a local person familiar with dealing with deer, to remove the deer from the area.

Around 10 AM, a Cominto man was hunting in the area of his camp, west of S. Wilmar Rd., in the gravel area of Old Warren Road. While following a turkey call answer, he went further into the woods, through a partially flooded area, getting lost.

B259C927-73F1-468A-B24C-A1585EB3DE1AThis photo shows for Arkansas game and Fish commission officers who were on the phone with the man, locating him, but unable to contact him quickly, because of the thick underbrush.

Shortly before noon, law-enforcement was notified that he was lost, and dispatched to locate him, and bring him to safety. The top photo shows OEM bringing him to the roadway and his side-by-side where he went into the woods, speaking with Sheriff Mark Gober. This photo shows for Arkansas game and Fish commission officers who were on the phone with the man, locating him, but we’re limited, because of the thick underbrush.

AG&F, DCSO & OEM responded to the scene. Here you can see the thick wooded area, where he was lost and rescued from. Once again, great work from our first responders!
