At 4 PM, Sunday afternoon, there was a two car crash at the city limits on Highway 278 W., in Monticello.

Drew County deputies, MPD, and MASI responded.

Vehicles involved included in F350, trailer, and side-by-side, and a Toyota.

Reggies and Rangel removed tthe vehicles.

If you must drive, please drive slow and safely.

As the weather quickly deteriorates, there are least nine wrecks currently being worked by law enforcement in Drew County.

Please stay home, if possible, and if you must get out, drive with extreme caution.

Minutes after 7 AM, Friday morning, during the rain and power outage at Old Warren Road, there was a two vehicle accident which required ambulance and two tow trucks.

Please drive careful during these difficult driving times.

Responders included Rangel, Reggie, MASI, and MPD.

During Friday mornings, power outage, approximately an hour before opening time, Brian Smith, owner of the Prescription Pad Pharmacy on Highway 425 south, is shown firing up generators so that he can operate his computers to take care of his customers medication needs.

Early morning, thunderstorms across Drew County, which are likely to continue throughout the morning, along with a recently issued tornado watch until 11 AM, have left trees down, blocking several roads, including Highway 35 near Collins, Rock Springs, Plantersville, and  Hwy 172, among others.

Gregory “Greg” Berryman was nominated and accepted into the 2024 Dream All-American Bowl. After rigorous review from the committee, the top athletes were invited to play in the exclusive all-star game and participate in a weekend long event of developmental activities and performance on a nationwide platform.  (more…)

Commercial Bank is proud to announce the addition of Bryan McDuffie as Chief Lending Officer. Bryan was born and raised in Greenville, MS, graduating from St. Joseph Catholic School.

Bryan has significant ties to Southeast Arkansas including being a third-generation graduate of UAM.

Bryan lived in Monticello from 2010 to 2015 when he managed the local office of Delta Farm Credit. Since that time, Bryan has worked as an executive for First Financial Bank where he has managed agricultural lending in southern Arkansas and the state of Louisiana.

Bryan is eager to return home to Monticello with his wife, the former Brady Barnes of Hamburg, and his two children, Sadie and Barrett, who will enroll in the Monticello School District.

Bryan is an enthusiastic leader, a dedicated community banker, and looks forward to serving Drew County.
