The City of Monticello will be conducting a city wide clean up effort this week, starting on Friday with city workers cleaning up and Saturday, with several local churches and civic organizations participating. Trash bags, vests, signs and related supplies for the clean up are being provided by Keep Arkansas Beautiful and being distributed by the Mayors Office should anyone want to come out and help either day. (more…)
Keep Arkansas Beautiful visited Monticello and Drew Central Elementary Schools last week and brought Otto the Otter to visit with kids, hand out coloring books and talk to them about keeping Monticello clean.
Mayor Akers is encouraging a city wide clean up on March 24th and 25th. On the 24th, city employees will pick up litter and trash in town and any institution wanting to help on Saturday the 25th can contact City Hall to arrange a time to obtain clean up materials furnished by Keep Arkansas Beautiful.
So far, several Churches have volunteered to help on the 25th, including Morning Star Missionary Baptist, Church of Christ, The Revival Center and Immanuel Baptist.
Monticello School District Special Education Supervisor Natalie Gosdin was featured in the National Council of Exceptional Children and the Council of Administrators of Special Education’s newsletter.
Thank you, Ms. Gosdin, for your dedication not only to MSD’s children but also for all children everywhere.
Recently, a short concrete pole has been placed at the northeast corner of the Walmart, parking lot, behind Murphy Oil.
The pole is placed in the edge of the parking area, outside of the driving lanes.
In recent weeks, at least five vehicles have been removed from the top of the pole, after crashing into and over it.
Please be aware of the situation, when using that Walmart entrance.
