Local veterans organizations  will Honor Veterans starting at 1:30 pm, today, at the county Courthouse, with a celebration of SEVEN BELLS TOLL, at 2PM we will play TAPS,  joining TAPS ACROSS AMERICA celebration.

This program will be held in lieu of last year’s 10 AM service.

This past Friday, UAM Celebrated its 2021 Fall Arbor Day on campus. The reason was twofold. The pandemic had suspended two earlier events. To keep our Campus Tree USA status, there is a requirement to host an arbor day event. (more…)

Dear Community Supporter:

In an effort to better promote our community, the Monticello Downtown Network Committee has been hard at work planning exciting additions to Monticello’s Historic Downtown Business District. We hope most of you have noticed the artwork being done to develop a large, totally unique, mural on the west side of the building located at 113 West Gaines Street. The Oscar Mayer WeenierMobile was in Monticello, Monday morning, and stopped at Sav-a-Lot and EZ-Mart North.

Several area residents stopped to make photos of the unusual vehicle, before it left, traveling north on Highway 425.
