The City of Monticello is currently taking applications for a full-time Engineer.

Applicant must possess an Arkansas driver’s license, a plumbing inspector license, a Waste Water Treatment Operator License Class 3 with an emphasis in Industrial, Distribution and Treatment Water Operator Licensing Class 4, a minimum of a high school diploma and have the ability to adapt to various environmental conditions.

Please refrain from overfilling the dumpsters. One “dumpster story” per  year is enough.

It’s usually not a good thing when dumpsters make it into the news, but we want to recognize the fact that the City of Monticello provides extra dumpsters at City Park, between Thanksgiving and New Year’s, as a courtesy to residents.

Recently, LeAnne Burch, of Crestwood Drive in Vivian Manor, was recognized as the yard of the month.

Yard of the month nominations are submitted to the town and country garden club, then the winner is announced by the local chamber of commerce.

Last week, Jay Jones, at the Edward Jones investments office, located  at 975 Highway North, Welcomed area residents and community leaders to attend the ribbon-cutting and open house, at his new office.

Refreshments were served.
