The University of Arkansas has announced that 2014 – 2018 will only have one game played at Little Rock’s War Memorial Stadium each year.

During the Frank Broyles athletic directorship, Little Rock games were reduced from three games to two.  This latest decision reduces it to only one yearly game, with no commitment to War Memorial after 2018.

After last week’s new uniforms, which are as attractive as this year’s win-loss record, alienating the rest of the state is not a good choice for recruiting, attendance, or anything else (except filling the Fayetteville Stadium).

In a recent Quorum Court meeting, Drew County JP approved a resolution supporting  Arkansas industries, such as logging and farming, over Neosho Muckets and Rabbitfoot Mussels.

Residents without children or grandchildren in our local schools should be aware that both Monticello an Drew Central school districts are out of school all of next week for Thanksgiving.

The Drew County Quorum Court held a called meeting, Thursday night, to approve a stipend, known to most folks as a Christmas Bonus, to the county employees.

Kelsey Lynn Windham was crowned 2013 Miss Buck Fever Saturday night at the annual Miss Buck Fever Festival in Banks,AR.

Kelsey is the 17 year old daughter of Teresa & Scott Duckworth & Darrell Windham. She is a senior at Monticello High School.

Monticello and Collings Fire Depts. were called, along with several Chicot County depts, to a fatal house fire in Dermott, Thursday morning.
