Cub Scouts from Monticello Pack 69 competed in a cardboard boat race at Camp DeSoto in El Dorado on Saturday May 3rd. The Monticello Pack entered five boats in the race each built using cardboard, glue, and tape only.
Judge Robert Akin announced at Monday night’s Quorum Court meeting that Air-Evac will not pursue payment from Drew County for the helicopter transport of a wounded murder suspect from Drew Memorial Hospital to Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff. The med-flight was the result of a police-involved shooting incident that took the life of Samantha Poole on Friday evening, March 14, in the vicinity of Save-A-Lot and Trotter Street.
In 1983, Curley Jackson took the oath of office as mayor of Wilmar.
32 years later, Jackson has won the support of Wilmar voters once again, as he defeated challenger Nodgy Lee Merritt, with a total of 78–28.
Jackson also serves as a member of the Drew Central School Board.

Judge Robert Akin advised the Quorum Court members at last night’s meeting that the Flood Damage Prevention Code, an ordinance passed in 2010 pertaining to construction in a flood plain, will be put into effect in Drew County as of May 20.
Shortly after 3 PM, Monticello Fire & Rescue, Drew County Sheriff’s Dept., Arkansas State Troopers, SEEMS, and Drew County OEM responded to the report of an 18-wheeler, it had run off of HWY 278 East of Monticello, near the 277 intersection.

Congressman Mike Ross, a Democratic candidate for Governor, held a rally and “meet and greet” at the Sadie Johnson Community Center, late Tuesday afternoon.
Ross was introduced by State Representative Sheilla Lampkin, then briefly spoke to the crowd from the podium. Hey spoke to members of the crowd of 160, as barbecue sandwiches were prepared for the group.

The Monticello School Board accepted the resignation of the head coach of the Monticello Billies football team, at a special called board meeting Wednesday night. The board also selected his replacement, at the meeting.
